Step 1. Connect Android device to PC
Launch Android Data Recovery and connect your Android device to your computer.
Note: During the recovery, do not start any other Android phone management software.
Step 2. Enable USB debugging mode (Optional)
If you have enabled USB debugging, skip this step. If not yet, follow the way below:
1) For Android 2.3 or earlier: Tap "Settings" < Click "Applications" < Click "Development" < Check "USB debugging"
2) For Android 3.0 to 4.1: Tap "Settings" < Click "Developer options" < Check "USB debugging"
3) For Android 4.2 or newer: tap "Settings" > click "About Phone" > tap "Build number" for several times until getting a note "You are under developer mode" > Back to "Settings" > click "Developer options" > check "USB debugging".
Step 3. Analyze data on Android device
After setting the USB debugging, reconnect your phone to your computer. Then you'll get the window below. Here you need to make sure your phone's battery is more than 20% charged, and then you can click "Next" to analyze the data on your device.
Note: If your device fails to be supported by Android Data Recovery , the program may guide you to set "USB Mass Storage" on your device to scan data. If there is no "USB Mass Storage" for choice, you need to root your Android phone.
If your phone has been rooted, click "Allow" and confirm that the request of "Superuser" is remembered forever. Then back to your computer, and click "Start" on the program's screen to scan your device.
Note: Some devices may present the "Allow" button for several times. Just keep clicking "Allow" until it disappear.
Step 4. Select file types to scan
Now select the type of files (including photos, video, messages, contacts, etc.) you need to recover.
Then select a storage scanning mode just as the below screenshot shows.
Step 5. Preview & Restore
After scanning, all recoverable data will be shown in organized categories. You can preview the data and choose those you want and click "Recover" to save them on your computer. For contacts, you can save them in CSV, vCard or HTML format; for messages, save them in CSV or HTML format.
Note: To easily find the lost data, you can slide the button at the top of the window to only display those deleted items.
